itSMF SMtech Forum 24th Sept – Sponsored by MarXtar Technical Know How & Tourist Hot spots

MarXtar are proud to support ITSMF and their SMtech forum on Asset Management which is being held at The Good Hotel in London on 24th Sept. This event is free to ITSMF members and non-members, so it’s a definite must for anyone interested in learning more about this key practice. Plus, Rory Canavan, from SAM Charter & Claire Burn, Head of IT Asset Management of HM Revenue & Custom along with myself will be sharing our expertise.

So, fill your professional senses to the max then why not take in the scenery around this end of the river? If like me, you haven’t visited the Royal Docks before and the only time you visit North Greenwich is to see a concert at the O2 then read on. The ITSMF event finishes at 4pm and with so much time left in the day it’s a shame to hurry off, so why not avoid the rush hour traffic and check out one of the local attractions.

In walking distances from where the ITSMF event is taking place at The Good Hotel you’ll find;

Thames Barrier & Thames Barrier Park

The Thames Barrier and Thames Barrier Park is one of the largest movable flood barriers in the world and is also one of the most recognisable images along the River Thames. Take a stroll along the river to see it up close and then stop off and visit the Thames Barrier Park.  Set across 7-hectares, it was London’s largest riverside park for over 50 years. With 32 fountains and an abundance of wildlife there is plenty to explore and a peaceful setting to reset your mind after a busy day of presentations.  For more information go to: https://www.london.gov.uk/what-we-do/environment/parks-green-spaces-and-biodiversity/parks-and-green-spaces/thames-barrier-park

Crossrail Place Roof Garden

If the weather isn’t so great but you still want the opportunity to get back to nature, then head off to the Crossrail Place Roof Garden. This tropical Oasis, hidden beneath a distinctive timber latticed roof is full exotic plants and hidden pathways. Free to visit and open daily to the public until 9pm, there’s plenty to see before you rest your feet and enjoy one of the shows in their amphitheatre. WakeUp Docklands

For those of you that are adventurous and don’t mind the English chill this place is out there!! WakeUp Docklands, London’s only cable wake park, offers a variety of water sports in an inner-city environment. Based in the sheltered waters of Royal Victoria Dock and open until 9pm midweek they offer; Cable wakeboarding, Stand up Paddleboarding, Yoga/Pilates & Hydrofoiling lessons. Now who doesn’t want a go after learning about Asset Mangement?! For more information and to book a session visit https://www.wakeupdocklands.com/

Emirates Air Line

My personal favourite is The Emirates Air Line.This short Cable Car ride is spitting distance from the Good Hotel and for £8.40 return will take you across the Thames River to North Greenwich, with lots of great iconic London scenery to see as you cross, such as the Cutty Sark & the O2. https://emiratesairline.gttix.com/emirates-air-line-discovery-experience-tickets

Heroica Lounge

After a hard day’s work and before a train ride home how about hopping on the pizza bus? Heroica Lounge is a new concept of traditional Italian Pizza Restaurant adapted in an over 30 years old iconic Double Decker London bus. So, you can enjoy a tasty Italian treat while overlooking the Thames. www.heroicalounge.com

Hopefully, these interesting London attractions have sealed the deal on attending the SMtech Forum, and if that wasn’t enough then yours truly and the MarXtar team will be there to say Hi!
